It was fantastic to see so many of our Friends Groups represented at our recent Friends Group Conference at Great Torrington’s RHS Rosemoor.

The perfect spring weather and immaculate gardens provided a wonderful backdrop for the annual conference, attended by groups from across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.

Around 50 representatives were welcomed by CHSW co-founder and chief executive Eddie Farwell, who thanked our Friends Groups for their ‘faithfulness’ and said the charity was ‘in good heart’.

Rotarians in Bideford and Germany join forces to boost children’s hospice

An international fundraising collaboration by Rotarians in Bideford and Germany has raised nearly £40,000 for Children’s Hospice South West.

Money raised at a barn dance in Yarnscombe nearly two years ago was the catalyst for the major project by the Rotary Club of Bideford and the Rotary Club of Uelzen.

The event at the farm of John Edwards in July 2017 raised £7,800 for the Little Bridge House hospice in Fremington but has since been boosted to £39,170 thanks to support from the twin club in Germany and a Rotary Foundation Global Grant. It is first successful global grant application in the

Paul Pickering from Concho Lounge in Newquay is preparing for a busy week in May when he has set himself the challenge of running seven half marathons in seven days, while raising money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

As a dad himself, Paul was inspired to raise money for the local children’s charity after this daughter took part in CHSW’s annual Rainbow Run at RAF St Mawgan last year.

South West accountants support hospice charities in centenary year

A firm of South West accountants and business advisors is celebrating 100 years in business this year by supporting two very special children’s hospice charities.

PKF Francis Clark, which has seven offices in Cornwall, Devon Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire, is marking the company’s milestone year by pledging its support to Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) and Julia’s House.

Professional Golfer, Chris Wood, has donated an exclusive experience to benefit local charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW). He’s offering one lucky winner the opportunity to caddy for him at the Pro Am of next month’s British Masters in Liverpool.

Next month’s British Masters takes place at the Hillside Golf Club and the prize includes a one-night stay for two people at the Hilton Liverpool, plus complementary tickets for the whole tournament (Thursday 9th May-Sunday 12th May).

A colossal collection of outstanding sporting items is going under the hammer in aid of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Former Somerset County Cricket Club chairman Andy Nash has called on favours from across the cricketing world and beyond to gather an incredible haul of more than 20 items, including test match tickets, ‘money-can’t-buy’ experiences and unique memorabilia.

Andy will be running the Virgin Money London Marathon later this month and is hoping to raise £26,000 for CHSW – £1,000 for every mile of the world-famous road race. The money raised through the online auction will go

School children climbing UK peaks for Children’s Hospice South West

Two Devon schoolchildren have scaled the first of two UK mountains to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Brother and sister Bodie and Gracie Blake, from Ideford, near Kingsteignton, spent the first weekend of their Easter holidays in Cumbria scaling Scafell Pike, England’s highest peak. They are due to head to Scotland to tackle Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest, in their summer holidays.

Bodie, aged 11 and Gracie, aged nine, were joined by mum Rachel and dad Steve and made it to the top and back down in just four hours, 27 minutes, despite deep snow and fog at the summit.

World record-breaker Mark's 100-mile three-legged walk for children's hospice

A Bideford world record holder has set himself a new challenge as he looks to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West.

Mark Edwards will be channelling school sports day with a 100-mile three-legged walk over the Easter weekend.

Starting on the morning of Good Friday (April 19), Mark will do 400 laps of Bideford Sports Ground – the equivalent of Bideford to Bristol – non-stop over 50 hours, finishing on Easter Sunday afternoon.

Children's Hospice South West Needs More Volunteers

Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), which runs Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell, has been celebrating the work of its dedicated community volunteers while searching for more to join.

A few weeks ago the hospice ran its annual Friends Group Conference. This event gave various members of Little Harbour’s fundraising team and care team the opportunity to thank community volunteers from Cornwall and Plymouth for their hard work. They were also updated on the focusses of the charity for the next year.

The International Bike Show is back at a new venue

The 10 th International Nailsea Bike Show is taking place on 21 st & 22 nd September at a new venue, the Ring O’Bells on St Mary’s Grove, Nailsea.

As always, the Show will have a wide and varied selection of bikes on show, from 1940s Indians to modern sports bikes and customs. There will be a full programme of events on both the Saturday and Sunday with lots to see and do.
